Going to work could be costing you £170,000 over the course of your lifetime, according to a survey.
Food chain Benjy’s asked 500 workers what they paid out in work-related costs and found that staff average £4,000 a year, including commuting costs of £1,300.

Other outlays included £1,569 on food and drink during work hours, £620 for work clothes, £431 on accessories and £110 on newspapers.
The survey also found one in four employees said they had to eat at their desks as they had little or no time to get out the office to have lunch.
