300 Indesit workers leave their jobs today as washing machine factory closes

More than 300 workers at Indesit’s Denbighshire washing machine factory are working their last shifts today, before the firm moves its production abroad , according to a report on the BBC website.

The company, which produces the well-known Hotpoint brand, has blamed the move on production costs and falling demand in the UK.

The factory at Bodelwyddan in Wales has been a major employer in the area since 1954.

Union Unite said it expects the jobs will be transferred to Poland.
