Up to 250,000 civil and public servants across the UK will take part in a one-day strike today in a dispute over cuts to redundancy pay, the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) has announced.

Today’s strike is the first of its kind on Budget day, and follows a two-day strike earlier this month, when around 200,000 civil and public servants refused to work because of changes to the civil service compensation scheme.
Prison workers, jobcentre staff, tax workers, passport staff, court officials, Ministry of Defence workers and driving test examiners will all be represented in the strike today.
