Net knowledge puts candidates ahead

Job candidates with Internet literacy skills are three times more likely to be offered work.

Secretarial recruitment consultancy Office Angels conducted a survey to investigate the level of employer demand for office workers with Internet skills.

Results showed that one in three employers now wants staff with net knowledge, with the figure increasing to more than 75 per cent in Cambridge, one of the UK’s leading technology centres.

During a typical working day, the Internet has become an invaluable office tool – the survey revealed it is most frequently used to carry out market research, competitor analysis and to make travel arrangements. More than three-quarters believe it will become increasingly integrated into office work over the next 12 months.

Office Angels identified a significant rise in the number of dotcom companies searching for staff.
