Recruitment system designed for Securicor


Web site developer Cousins Interactive has designed a Web-based recruitment system for Securicor. Called iREC, the system processes applications and CVs as well as integrating functions such as workflow tracking.

Springboard to a career in leisure


Springboard UK, which promotes careers in hospitality, travel, tourism and leisure, has launched a careers and information portal for the sector. The site is due to go live later this week.

Students prefer to play safe with jobs


Nearly half the students surveyed in a new report by recruitment and education company Hobsons said they would rather work for blue-chip companies, which offer more security and better training, than dotcoms or their own business start-ups. The Graduate Recruitment in the New Economy survey also showed that 75 per cent of those questioned use the Internet for job-hunting.

Everything you ever wanted to learn


PTT, a dedicated telecoms training company, has signed a training reseller agreement with Courseleader.com, which specialises in IT training solutions. Courseleader offers 1,300 IT courses from its web site. PTT’s courses include everything from an introduction to telecoms to ATM principles and networks.

The Government’s e-envoy Alex Allan has announced a number of initiatives to try to give Britain the skills and confidence to become a world leader in e-business. They include a campaign to promote and rebrand the image of careers in IT, electronics and communications and developing new skills for the sectors in the light of recommendations in the industry report, Skills for the Information Age (available from the web site below).
