Service organisations in Scotland will be able to access new expertise in talent management, learning and development, employee engagement and people retention. learnpurple is launching a Scottish office on 25th February 2010.

Over the past nine years, learnpurple has built up a much-admired brand and an enviable reputation for helping service businesses achieve competitive advantage through their people.

The venture will be headed up by Managing Director, Gavin McLean. Gavin has over 20 years experience within the hospitality and food industries and has always been enthused by people development and innovation to help companies maximise employee potential making him an ideal partner.

Learnpurple has a very positive history North of the border, having worked with Scottish based hotels such as Malmaison and Hotel du Vin and Cameron House. Jane Sunley, founder and CEO, has appeared at numerous conferences and speaking engagements throughout Scotland and has three times chaired the Scottish Enterprise Sales in the City Conference in Glasgow. “I’ve always loved doing work in Scotland, people are so very receptive to new ideas and our style and approach. We’ve aspired to a Scottish branch for quite some time and feel the time is right. I’m so looking forward to expanding on this now.” she commented.

Sean Wheeler, Head of People at Malmaison and Hotel du Vin commented, ‘‘When looking at the current financial climate, there can only be one route to take; creative solutions to retain, develop and engage the great people you have. To keep them motivated and productive and keep hearts and minds engaged in your organisation. We have been working closely with learnpurple for seven years, and have had an impressive percentage decreases in labour turnover, significant increases in motivation and productivity, and important cost reductions and increased profit.’’

Scottish business success story Montpeliers also welcomes this new development. Managing Director David Wither is enthusiastic about the prospect of having learnpurple on his doorstep:  “I wish learnpurple Scotland every success for the future, the innovative and forward looking training courses and appraisal system will deliver real benefits for the Hospitality industry in Scotland, I look forward to working with Gavin”

Learnpurple’s suite of products and services includes the multi-award winning talent toolbox, a web enabled talent management system, which has enjoyed success internationally. Learnpurple consultants are skilled in employer branding and talent strategy. Bespoke e-learning is also available together with established food hygiene and health and safety packages. The Scottish office will offer a comprehensive calendar of learning events. This includes the ever popular learning bites: 90 minutes of education, inspiration and motivation; a tailored modular leadership programme, Purple Leadership, as well as offering bespoke training, coaching and other solutions to suit individual client needs.

The company was established in 2001 as a direct response to the high employee turnover that plagued service industries such as hospitality and retail. In these challenging times, now more than ever, smart service businesses are ensuring they have robust people plans in place. And service has to be spot on. So this is an ideal time for learnpurple to branch out into a new region, as challenges around talent management and people engagement are once again thrust to the forefront of people’s minds.
