London 2012 staff receive £1.8m bonus

Bonuses amounting to more than £1.8m have been paid out to staff that are overseeing the construction of venues for London’s 2012 Olympics, according to a report by the BBC.

Staff working for the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), responsible for Olympic building and infrastructure projects, received £1,806,685 in performance-related pay in the year to March 2009, the report added.

In July, ODA chief executive David Higgins said he had deferred half of his £209,566 performance-based pay, which is linked to keeping the Olympic project on time and within budget, until 2012.
