Muslim twins settle out of court to bring end to landmark discrimination case

Muslim twin sisters claiming sex, race and religious discrimination against a City firm have won a multi-million pound out of court settlement, according to press reports.

Twins Samira and Hanan Fariad took Tradition Securities and Futures to an employment tribunal on a series of allegations. The French nationals claimed bosses at the company took Jewish clients from them, and gave them to non-Muslim colleagues.

They also alleged that former bosses at the firm turned a blind eye to discriminatory behaviour.

However, the tribunal was stopped with their evidence due to begin this week, when the pair reached an out-of-court settlement – thought to be as much as £10m according to some reports.

In a statement, the Fariads’ solicitors Russell Jones & Walker said: “The parties are pleased to confirm that this matter has now settled on confidential terms. Neither party will be making any further statements in relation to the litigation in general or the settlement reached.”
