Asda staff retention rates rocket

Retention rates at Asda are at an all-time high, the supermarket giant has claimed.

According to the retailer, 67,000 employees have clocked up at least five years’ service â€“ an increase of 10% on last year.

Staff retention has steadily improved since 2002, with less than 20% of its workforce leaving the company each year, the firm announced.

Sarah Dickins, Asda’s retail people director, told Personnel Today: “We do a lot of work listening to colleagues to see how we can improve the business and respond to that.

“Because the business is doing so well at the moment, there are many development opportunities for our people. That’s what’s driving our retention rates. A lot of store managers start as colleagues [on the shop floor]. There’s clear development and progression.”

The supermarket, which employs 165,000 people, also has popular benefit and flexible working schemes.

These include a 10% Asda discount, money-off vouchers for days out with the children, discounted healthcare, and free legal advice.
