Equality, diversity and inclusion

Diversity Milkround unveils new look

by Personnel Today 25 Jun 2008
by Personnel Today 25 Jun 2008

Milkround Online has responded to calls by industry leaders for recruiters to improve their diversity and equal opportunity awareness by re-launching its barrier-breaking jobsite Diversity Milkround.

Diversity Milkround advises clients on equal opportunity best practice and enables them to connect with a database of 18,000 student and graduate job seekers across age, disability, ethnicity, gender, religion and sexual orientation diversity sectors.

Employer diversity continues to be a hot topic. Just last week, the Confederation of British Industry’s Director-General Richard Lambert said:

“Employers who take steps to encourage a more diverse workforce notice huge benefits from doing so.” In the same report Trade Union Congress’ General Secretary, Brendan Barber claimed: “The issue is not whether business can afford to diversify, but whether it can afford not to.”

Similarly, in the PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP report ‘Managing People in a Changing World’, partner Richard Phelps said:

“More and more companies are working hard to be perceived as responsible employers, build attractive employer brands and fulfil their reputation as a responsible company.”

Diversity Milkround enables employers to rise to the fresh challenges set down by these industry leaders with its re-launched website.

The new, streamlined look is easier to navigate, provides more opportunities for advertisers to highlight their inclusive employment initiatives and faster, more visible access to vacancies.

The homepage also places a greater emphasis on news affecting equality in the workplace.

These changes reflect the growing emphasis recruiters are placing on equal opportunities and which have been shown to positively impact employee morale, productivity, recruitment, retention, corporate PR and overall development and sustainability.

Head of Diversity Milkround, Richard Chapman said:

“Since first launching in 2006, Diversity Milkround has continued to develop, further supporting top organisations across industries. Our recruitment service has been kept up-to-date with market patterns and is as relevant today as ever.

“Now with new reports stressing the need for diversity, our re-launch comes at a time of heightened importance for recruiters to attract and retaining an inclusive workforce.”

A Diversity Milkround user survey echoed the comments of the industry leaders.

Some 83 percent of candidates said they place great importance on the visible diversity of their future employers, and more than half would only apply to an organisation engaged with diversity practices.

Richard Chapman added:

“The new look Diversity Milkround is uniquely positioned to ensure your organisation is positively profiled in the marketplace as the war for talent heats up in the wake of the credit crunch and an increasingly pressurised jobs market means diversity visibility is key.

“With more than 18,000 users already registering their interest in inclusive employers and equal opportunities becoming a regular news topic, employers profiled on Diversity Milkround are well placed to stay ahead of the issues with our best practice guidance and support throughout the recruitment process.”
