The AA has completed its senior management shake-up following a £6.2bn merger with Saga.
Last week, Personnel Today revealed that Martin Sawkins, the motoring services group’s long-standing human resources director, had left the company.
The restructure means that Janet Thomson has now taken responsibility for HR matters across the combined group. She is a former director of corporate development at Saga.
The merger will see the existing operations of both the AA and Saga Insurance combine, opening up more opportunities for cross-selling.
In an internal e-mail to AA managers last week, group chief executive Andrew Goodsell said he had “a number of ideas about the business structure and how the AA operates” but time was needed to test them out.
He also said he had given the green light to plans to increase roadside patrols and hire more staff – a move likely to be welcomed by unions at the company.
