Poland: The Polish government is considering implementing a package of measures to facilitate greater work-life balance. Proposals include increasing maternity leave to 26 weeks for the first child and 28 weeks for the second. It is also proposing tax breaks for employers which take on new parents.

EU presidency: Portugal will take over the reins of the presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 July.
The German presidency will submit a report to the June 2007 European Council meeting, which will contain an assessment of the current state of discussions on the Constitutional Treaty.
