Staff who work at TV Licence‘s headquarters in Bristol are to stage a two-day strike next week.
Workers who collect the BBC TV licence voted by an overwhelming 95% majority for industrial action.
Staff are angry at the decision by Capita – the company contracted to administer the licence – to outsource work from Bristol to Mumbai, India.
The first two days of strike action will be Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 January.
The Communications Workers Union (CWU) said 124 employees will take part in the official action.
Andy Furey, CWU assistant secretary, said: “The Communications Workers Union condemns the cynical decision by Capita to offshore UK TV Licence jobs to India. CWU members have been left with no alternative but to take industrial action as Capita is unwilling to provide long-term guarantees in relation to jobs.”
The union is also launching a publicity campaign to heighten awareness of the risk to the public due to the lack of security of bank details in Indian call centres.

Capita has said the decision to offshore was made in the interest of providing value for money for licence fee payers.
