Statutory dispute resolution procedures introduced just two years ago look set to be overhauled.
Law firm Shoosmiths said the Department of Trade and Industry was set to shake up procedures after they failed to achieve the government’s aim of reducing the pressure on the Employment Tribunal Service by allowing more disputes to be resolved in the workplace.
The latest statistics from the service showed employee claims are actually rising.

A formal consultation is expected next year on what shape new procedures should take.
It is believed informal discussions on the subject have been on-going between trade unions, employers’ groups and the government in recent months.
