More than 750 Aberdeen Council workers have accepted equal pay offers as compensation for five years of unpaid bonuses, according to council bosses.
The council revealed its plans to pay out £15m in equal pay settlements to 2,500 employees, including cleaners, caterers and carers last month.
The 2,500 workers will receive up to £15,000 each but some women claim they are entitled to £25,000.
The council has also spent £250,000 providing workers with free legal advice and access to HR advisers.
It estimates that 90% of the staff who have attended its ‘advice days’ have accepted compensation payments.
Councillor Neil Fletcher, convener of the council’s resources management committee, said the Unison union had now given the offer its backing.
“We are very pleased. It’s good that the staff feel that the offer is a fair and reasonable one,” he said.

The council plans to hold a further three advice days this week.
