More than one-third of the 300 managers surveyed by Bibby Financial Services would cancel a family holiday.

It found that determination was considered the most important attribute for a successful businessman or woman.

David Robertson, chief executive of Bibby Financial Services, said: “Owners and managers must be careful that this [type of behaviour] does not become the norm in their everyday business lives.”
The survey also revealed most came up with their best ideas on the way to the office rather than in the boardroom.
