Women will fill seven out of 10 new jobs in London by 2016.
A study by the Greater London Authority shows that women will take up posts in business, health, education and retail sectors.
The findings are published ahead of a conference of 500 business leaders and policymakers hosted by London mayor Ken Livingstone.
Livingstone said that while it would be an enormous improvement, historically fewer women in London (62%) work than in the rest of the country (70%).
“There needs to be radical development in equality law to create the environment to allow women to stay in work,” said Livingstone.

“Government and business need to understand that this is the way of the future and is right for business,” he added.
The conference will discuss the findings of the report and look at ways to strengthen women’s position in the workplace.
