Brown calls for pay restraint

Chancellor Gordon Brown has called for a 2% limit on public sector pay, to avoid exerting upward pressure on inflation. In a letter to the pay review bodies, which set annual pay rises for thousands of public sector workers, Brown said settlements should be based on “the achievement of the inflation target of 2%, rather than on the recent temporary rise in the rate of inflation”.

HR Olympian required

The London Development Agency (LDA) is recruiting for a head of HR on behalf of the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA). An interim team based within the LDA is now offering around £75,000 for a head of HR to develop and implement strategy to support the ODA and build relationships with key stakeholders including the Greater London Authority and Transport for London.

Ball skills win Mini

Graham Brown, head of people support services at children’s charity Barnado’s, has won a Mini One courtesy of Personnel Today and recruitment firm Proactive HR. More than 1,800 people entered our competition to win the car, both through Personneltoday.com and at our stand at the CIPD’s annual exhibition in Harrogate. Brown correctly guessed that there were 2,996 balls in the Mini.
