Beachcroft Wansbroughs hosts age discrimination conferences

by Personnel Today 2 Sep 2005
by Personnel Today 2 Sep 2005

Two one-day conferences on the implications of the new Age Discrimination Regulations are to be hosted by Beachcroft Wansbroughs, the national commercial law firm, in London and Manchester on 29 September and 5 October respectively.

Each conference will provide expert insight from leading lawyers specialising in discrimination law and pensions, together with experienced industry figureheads including Amanda Jones, Head of Diversity at Marks and Spencer and Liz Upton, HR Policy Manager and Sally Humpage, Diversity Project Manager from the Co-operative Group.

Delegates will receive guidance on best practice, will learn how the law is already operating in Ireland, and hear thought-provoking case studies from within the corporate world.

The full programme of speakers will include:

  • Rachel Dineley – Head of the National Discrimination Unit, Beachcroft Wansbroughs
  • Sue Jenkins – Partner, Employment Group, Beachcroft Wansbroughs
  • Freda Line – Employer Relations Manager, Employers Forum on Age
  • David Farmer – Associate, Beachcroft Wansbroughs
  • Peter McInnes – Partner, Mason Hayes & Curran
  • Sally Humpage – HR Policy Manager, Marks & Spencer (London conference only)
  • Amanda Jones – Head of Diversity for the Co-operative Group (Manchester conference only)
  • Liz Upton – Diversity Project Manager (Manchester conference only)

The new regulations, due to come into force in October 2006, will be applicable to all employees, irrespective of age. The legislation will pose a significant threat to the unprepared, but a hidden opportunity for the thriving employer.
