Unions at the BBC have called off a strike planned for next week after all-night negotiations.
Journalists and technicians suspended their threatened 48-hour walkout after talks lasting 20 hours with managers at the conciliation service Acas.
The strike was planned for Tuesday over the proposed axing of 4,000 jobs at the BBC.
Union leaders said the corporation had made a revised offer which involved “significant movement” on the proposed outsourcing of jobs although not on the compulsory redundancies.
A joint statement by the three unions involved said that although they had called off the strike and would be putting the offer to members on Tuesday, they would not be backing the proposal.

The director of BBC People, Stephen Dando said: “We welcome the union’s decision to suspend next week’s industrial action whilst they consult their members.
“The BBC has tried to be flexible in meeting the unions’ concerns and we very much hope that is the first step in what will be a productive relationship with the unions in the coming months.”
