Former England cricketer Chris Schofield will have to wait until at least this Friday to hear whether his claim for unfair dismissal against former club Lancashire has been successful.
Schofield, 26, is currently without a county after his two-year contract at the Old Trafford-based cricket club ran out last September, ending a career which began in 1997.
He told an employment tribunal in Manchester he was “shocked” when the club told him he was to be released, having expected to be offered new terms.

Schofield – once touted as England’s answer to Aussie spin bowler Shane Warne – had been warned the previous April that his performances would determine whether or not he was retained for another year.
He told the tribunal he believed he could have found another county cricket club had Lancashire informed him of their intentions on his future earlier than September 2004.
