Immediate help

Staff injured at work should have immediate medical help rather than waiting months while conditions worsen, say experts. The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy complained that people are spending too long on waiting lists to see a consultant after being injured at work.

Long-term work stress is a major cause of heart attacks, according to a study by the Goteborg University. A poll of 29,000 people in 52 countries found that psychosocial factors increased the risk of a heart attack by two-and-a-half times.

Less than six months before new laws legalising 24-hour drinking come into effect, employers and staff fear increased drinking will cause problems at work and lead to a decrease in productivity.
