EEF award for student

Student
Katy Earnshaw has been
awarded the ‘Best Contribution to the Business Award’ in the EEF’s Year in Industry scheme for
her work with engineering firm Firth Rixson
Rings in Yorkshire. During a gap
year, Earnshaw implemented
major changes to the shopfloor,
made savings of more than £250,000 and improved relations between workers and
management. Earnshaw is now
taking a degree in aerospace engineering, and Firth Rixson has already offered her a three-year contract
after university.

T-Mobile attrition rates

In
last week’s coverage of shortlisted
teams in the Deloitte Award for Innovation in Measuring Human Capital, we
stated that attrition rates at
T-Mobile have fallen by 60 per cent. The figure should have said 6 per cent.
