BA soars to the top in graduate poll of ‘dream employers’

Travel,
excitement and adventure have led to British Airways being named the ‘dream
employer’ for graduates for the second year in a row.

The
2004 Total Graduates Poll, compiled from nominations on the totaljobs.com
website, found the airline had managed to stay above the competition.

The
Foreign Office, BBC, Microsoft, and British Telecom rounded off the poll’s top
five.

Graduates
believe these organisations will offer them adventure as well as security,
according to Keith Robinson, commercial director of totaljobs.com.     

"Today’s
graduates crave travel, excitement, challenges and variety, and employers must
meet these demands if they are to retain the pick of the bunch,” he said.

BA
also topped last year’s poll ahead of IBM, which fell to seventh position this
year.

Along
with the Foreign Office, the NHS also appeared in this year’s top 10,
suggesting the public sector has shaken off the negative image associated with
its careers.
