The
body responsible for promoting skills development in England has introduced a
new management structure, with the appointment of regional directors.
The
Learning and Skills Council (LSC) hopes the move will help develop relations
with key partners at a local level and drive forward its work in the regions.
The
new directors will be responsible for performance across each region, with
between three and five executive director reports.
They
will also continue to manage a local LSC ensuring that each director remains
close to delivery on the ground, retaining an awareness of local issues and
needs
Mark
Haysom, chief executive of the LSC, said: “The LSC is committed to the
promotion and development of strong regional partnerships. The appointment of
the regional directors, each with extensive knowledge of the learning and
skills sector, reflects this commitment. We see effective regional partnerships
as essential to the success of our work, not least in the delivery of the
Government’s skills strategy.”
