The
UK is increasingly becoming a nation of entrepreneurs, according to the latest
figures on economic activity.
The
2003 Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) – the annual barometer of activity
worldwide – shows that activity in the UK has risen to 6.4 per cent of the UK
population, up from 5.4 per cent.
Rebecca
Harding, director of GEM UK, said: “There is a growing appetite for creating
new businesses and organisations.”

Harding
added that the challenge for Government is to provide a strong base for all the
networks entrepreneurs need.
