Call
centre staff are benefiting from salary rises double those in other sectors, as
companies bid to attract more recruits, a report has found.
The
starting salary for call centre staff has increased by 7.7 per cent in the past
12 months, compared to the average pay deal of just 3 per cent.
The
Industrial Relations Services report, based on 112,000 staff at 350 call
centres, found the best rises were at the lower and higher ends of the salary
scale.
Entry-level
call centre staff earn an average of £13,000 while team leaders receive £14,820
and managers £27,420.

The
rises have raised concerns that more firms could move operations to countries
such as India where English speaking staff command far lower wages.
