Harassment horror

Almost one in four workers claim to have been a victim of discrimination,
bullying or harassment, a study finds. The research, commissioned by the
Guardian and recruitment specialist TMP Worldwide, also reveals only two in
five workers think employers are harnessing the potential of the UK’s diverse
population.

Foundation firsts

Thirty-two of the 38 NHS trusts awarded three-star status this year have
completed the first stage of the application process to become NHS Foundation
Trusts. The second round of trusts was announced by Lord Warner at the start of
the committee stage in the House of Lords of the Health and Social Care Bill. www.DoH.gov.uk

Qualification buddies

Offering a new trainee a ‘buddy’ (a more experienced trainee who befriends
them) will make it more likely that they will attain their work-based
qualifications, according to a new study. Successful Learning at Work, is a
national report published by the Adult Learning Inspectorate.  www.ali.gov.uk

Prize winner

Ann Richardson is the winner of the prize draw attached to the recent stress
survey conducted online by Personneltoday.com. She wins a weekend for two in
Amsterdam. Richardson is HR manager at Pentahact, an organisation providing
care and support services to people with learning disabilities and mental
health problems.
