City high-flyer wins damages for bullying

A
London City worker has won almost £1m for being bullied out of his job by his
employers.

Steven
Horkulak, 39, a derivatives trader, claimed that his boss at money broker
Cantor-Fitzgerald constantly screamed abuse at him.

Horkulak
said that on one occasion, Cantor president Lee Amaitis called him during his
daughter’s birthday party and threatened to ‘break him in two’.

Cantor
Fitzgerald said that Horkulak left in June 2000 because of his drink and drug
problems, and said it would appeal against the £912,000 award.

Horkulak
said he was delighted that the court had recognised the culture of bullying and
abuse at Cantor Fitzgerald.
