Blair pledges new affordable London homes

Tony
Blair has pledged to build 120,000 affordable new homes for London workers.

The
commitment will see a massive new housing drive in London and the South East at
five ‘strategic locations’ along the Thames and on both sides of the estuary in
Kent and Essex.

Costing
£446m, the biggest housing boom for decades will see 40 miles of riverside
affected, and, it is claimed, 180,000 jobs will be created.

The
Government said the new homes are needed for key workers who have been priced
out of the London market.
