More than 1.3m working days were lost through labour disputes last year, a
rise from 525,000 in 2001.
According to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the
number of working days lost is the highest since 1990.

There were 146 stoppages of work in 2002 because of labour disputes – the
lowest annual total on record. However, two of those stoppages accorded for
