The
Department for Trade and Industry has divided the responsibility of Alan
Johnson’s old role, following his promotion announced in last week’s cabinet
reshuffle.
Johnson
left his job as employment relations minister to take up a new role at the
Department for Education and Skills, and his former responsibilities have been
divided between other ministers.
The
role has now been split between two ministers: Jacqui Smith, who will be
responsible for industry and the regions, and Gerry Sutcliffe, who will deal
with employment relations and legislation.
