Young guns boost turnover at law firm

An
innovative legal firm has told how its policy of recruiting youngsters straight
from school has helped increase its retention rate and improve staff
motivation.

Barnetts
Solicitors, a personal injury law firm, operates an apprenticeship scheme which
takes in school-leavers and puts them through a period of intensive training.

Andrea
Parry, HR manager at Barnetts said half the workforce was now aged between
16-23 and as a result the motivation and adaptability of the group had soared.

The
majority of the trainees remain in the company for between five and six years,
progressing as high as team leaders and fee earners.

Parry
went on to say the policy had greatly contributed to the firm’s 110 per cent
increase in turnover during the last 12 months.
