Work-life balance
UK employers are ignoring staff demands for family-friendly policies,
according to research. The report by Youatwork claims that nine out of 10
employers believe that family-friendly policies will become more important in
the next five years, but only one in 10 provide staff with assistance to

IT skills framework
E-Skills UK, the body responsible for addressing the UK’s IT skills, has
published a new skills framework. Organisations or individuals wishing to
evaluate the framework can view it and complete an online survey at the address

Cutting out injuries
The TUC has teamed up with the Association of British Insurers to call for
measures to stem the £38m-a-day cost of workplace injuries. The two
organisations have launched a joint campaign for improved rehabilitation

Legislation warning
This year’s raft of new employment legislation could destabilise labour
relations and disproportionately bolster the role of trade unions, the CBI has
warned. The employer body is worried that up-coming legislation could give

Ad award winners
In last week’s issue, Personnel Today ran a photograph and picture caption
from the Recruitment Advertising Awards showing the winner of the ‘Most
