Bullying heads list of complaints

Bullying
and harassment are still rife in the workplace, a report by Industrial
Relations Services finds.

A
survey of 75 organisations, employing more than a quarter of a million people,
shows that the issue of bullying and harassment has shot to the top of the list
of complaints in grievance procedures. More than 40 per cent of staff had
raised complaints related to this issue.

The
survey shows a wide range of complaints by staff with arguments over
disciplinary matters are the second most frequent cause of problems. More than
20 per cent of employees also complain about new working practices and grading.

Concerns
about pay also account for a significant proportion of complaints, with 15 per
cent of staff highlighting this as an issue. Other common complaints are over
