HR specific/related courses: CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice (CPP), part-time evening course from mid-September to June or
mid-January to June (afternoon and evening ), for which students must become student members of the CIPD; MA Strategic Human Resource
Management, part-time, one year (top-up); CIPD Professional Development Scheme, part-time over three years; BA (Hons) Human Resource Management, three years full time or four years to include a placement year.

Founded: One of the leading modern universities with roots stemming from the early 1900s.

College CV: Staffordshire has two main campuses in Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford and a satellite campus in Lichfield.  It has a student
population of around 18,000.  The Faculty of Business and Law is one of the largest in the new university sector and has achieved the maximum 24 marks in the QAA ratings in the economic division.  HRM is one of the expanding areas at the university and there are nine dedicated HRM
professionals covering a range of specialisms from international HRM to diversity in the workplace.  The business school runs a number of courses with major corporate clients including Rolls-Royce and Josiah Wedgwood.  Its Centre for Research in Business, Economics and Management covers a range of subject areas including organisational behaviour, public sector management, corporate responsibility and the environment.

Entry: The CIPD PDS is open to honours graduates in any discipline, experienced professionals, those with a CIPD CPP/CTP who have
relevant work experience, and those  who have completed a bridging programme may also apply. The CPP is an open entry course aimed at those with personnel/HR responsibilities and applications should preferably, be supported by employers. The MA Strategic HRM is open to GCIPD and MCIPD professionals or those with a PgD in HRM.

Star HR academics:  Anni Hollings who has developed a reputation as an exceptional lecturer who achieves excellent results through her
students’ work.

Mike Hammond, a CIPD Branch Education Advisior, who is also on the CIPD Membership and Education Committee, has developed  CIPD programmes which achieve consistently well above national average results.
