UK companies prepare for major expansion

More
than half of Britain’s largest companies are planning for major change or
expansion over the next 12 months, according to new research.

A
Mori poll on behalf of interim firm BIE has found that 51 per cent of those
with a turnover in excess of £20m anticipated major change or restructuring
later in the year.

A
further 30 per cent of the companies with a £20m turnover were likely to
expand, with 24 per cent forecasting an acquisition programme.

Senior
managers are also changing jobs more frequently with almost 30 per cent of
firms losing a senior executive in the last six months and 81 per cent of these
vacancies still unfilled.

Two
hundred directors interviewed during the research indicated a preference for
interim managers with 91 per cent advocating them, compared to 73 per cent for
internal resources and 68 per cent for management consultants.
