Asda
says the value of its employee share scheme has doubled since May 1999.
This
weekend around 4,900 Asda employees will bag an estimated £11m worth of
Wal-Mart shares as their scheme matures.
The
company said employees who joined the scheme in 1999 have invested an average
of £1,200 each in the programme. The value of shares has doubled over the three
years.
Share
scheme members have until October 31 to decide whether to buy shares, take
their bonus and savings in cash or a mixture of both.
