New jobs at research company

A
government grant will create 146 new jobs in Cornwall and help fund a new
laboratory for advanced drug research.

The
jobs, many of them qualified scientific staff, will be created thanks to a
£2.4m selective assistance grant to Tripos Receptor Research Ltd in Bude,
Cornwall.

The
firm will also receive £1.3m in assistance from the South West Regional
Development Agency.

on the grant, DTI minister Alan Johnson said: "This is fantastic news for
Tripos, the regional  economy and the UK
scientific research industry as a whole. This grant will not only help create
high-skill, high value jobs but demonstrates the Government’s commitment to
leading edge manufacturing."
