by Personnel Today 7 Sep 2005

HR specific/related courses:  Strategic Human Resource Management – an executive education programme, five days in length, aimed at senior HR professionals. The programme is designed to help participants gain a more strategic perspective and contribute to debate at board level.  Other related executive courses are on offer including the course, ‘Performance through People’.  Both the full-time and part-time Ashridge MBAs cover human resources and organisational behaviour as part of their programmes.

Founded: 1959

College CV:  Ashridge runs 28 different open executive programmes and approximately 6,000 students from around the world take part in the programmes each year.  It is consistently ranked by the Financial Times as one of the top two UK providers of customised executive education and works with a wide range of prominent, international organisations. For MBA students, Ashridge is ranked among the top five European business schools in terms of salary growth (as ranked in the 2004 Financial Times EMBA survey). It has three research centres – Ashridge Centre for Business and Society, Ashridge Strategic Management Centre and Ashridge Leadership Centre.  Ashbridge also has its own consulting arm, Ashridge Consulting Limited.

Entry:  No qualifications necessary for open programmes. For entry to MBA programmes, either a first degree or good scores on the General Management Admissions Test Score.

Star academics:  Andrew Campbell and Michael Goold of the Ashridge Strategic Management Centre publish extensively in the Harvard Business Review and Financial Times on corporate strategy.  Leadership, also a key area of expertise for Ashbridge, with the acclaimed book, Living Leadership (FT Prentice Hall 2004) recently published by faculty members, George Binney, Gerhard Wilke and Colin Williams.

Alumni: A thriving alumni association, providing, events, business briefings and use of the Ashridge Virtual Learning Resource Centre which can be accessed from the Ashridge web site.
