The
Times newspaper reports that senior servants at the DTI are to be sent on
business-based work experience as part of Patricia Hewitt’s shake up of the
department.
The
Trade and Industry Secretary wants her civil servants to spend one week a year
at the sharp end of business as part of a plan to focus on productivity.
The
move is part of a wider review of the department, which will include the
creation of a business strategy unit that will include four of the top business
people in the country.
