Consignia needs to improve its management training if it is to prevent more
of the industrial disputes that crippled the postal service in May.
As Personnel Today went to press an independent report was released that
criticises the postal service’s regional managers over poor communication and
leadership skills. About 62,000 days were lost through strikes by postal
workers last year.

The report calls for a comprehensive review of management training methods
in a bid to win back union confidence.
John Roberts, chief executive of Consignia, said, "The report confirms
that the challenges from regulatory actions and increasing competition are
far-reaching and will, unless we stop striking, cost business and jobs."
