Early results of a study of universities have suggested nurses receive
better education than doctors. The evidence is based on a survey of
universities in England and Northern Ireland, carried out by the Quality
Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).

A new pay system for nurses will be ready for piloting at up to 32 NHS
trusts next year. All NHS employers in England are expected to have implemented
the new system by 2004.

Researchers have found that administering the measles vaccine via an aerosol
can be more effective than traditional injection. A study published in The
Lancet found that 3.6 per cent of children who received Edmonston-Zagreb
vaccine by aerosol were inadequately protected a year later, compared with 8.6
per cent of children who received it by injection.
