CIPD voices fear over holiday rule

The
CIPD has criticised the landmark European Court of Justice ruling that will
give short-term workers rights to paid holidays.

Employers
will no longer be able to avoid giving leave to people employed on a freelance
or short-term basis due to the Working Time Directive ruling brought by media
union Bectu.

Mike
Emmott, CIPD’s advisor for employee relations, said, "We are very unhappy
about this regulation as we felt that the original law was perfectly OK.
