Are you in a top team?
The TD2001 Award, run
by Training magazine and sponsored by Raytheon Professional Services, is
looking for the most business-focused training and development team in the UK.
The winning team will have a strong focus on performance improvement, has
influence and respect among senior professionals and can demonstrate the
effectiveness of its activities. Any UK T&D team can enter the TD2001 Award
for the UK’s Top Training Team. The T&D function may be internal or
outsourced. The winning team will receive the TD2001 Trophy at a presentation
to be held at the Training Solutions Show at the NEC in Birmingham on 27 June.

GM’s e-learning deal
General Motors
announced a four-year deal with e-learning provider UNext last week. GM’s
88,000 global salaried staff will have access to management development courses
and an online MBA programme, created in partnership with business schools such
as Stanford University, in the US, and the London School of Economics. GM’s
management and technical employees will have access to online courses provided
by universities affiliated to UNext.  www.unext.com

Merger likely for NTO
A merger between the
Marine Training Authority and the troubled NTO for the telecoms industry is
looking increasingly likely. Last November, the NTO tele.com went into
receivership after problems with a training contract left it with debts of
£10m. The authority stepped in with a merger package that was accepted by NTO
tele.com’s board, but the DfEE felt a consultation period was necessary. It is
due to finish by the end of this month. Â
