Call for change in law following attack on MD

The
Bioindustry Association has called for tougher measures to protect directors of
companies involved in animal testing following the attack on the managing
director of Huntingdon Life Sciences.

Brian
Cass suffered a cut to his head and bruising after being beaten by masked
assailants wielding baseball bats at his home in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

Speaking
to Personnel Today, Aisling Burnand, director of public affairs for the
industry body said,  “We think that it
is absolutely key that the address of company directors should not be made
available through Companies House.”

Burnand
also urged that the Police and Criminal Justice Bill be made law as quickly as
possible.

“We
are campaigning for the tightening of the criminal justice bill so the kind of
attack which was perpetuated against Brian Cass doesn’t happen again.”
