Polaroid
is poised to cut 235 jobs at its factory in Dumbarton, Scotland according to
reports
The
US camera and film making firm is to make the jobs cuts in manufacturing and
administration at its Vale of Leven plant, which employs a workforce of 850
people.
The
Scottish job cuts are part of the company’s plans to get rid of 1,000 jobs
worldwide over the next three months.
Polaroid
blamed the job cuts on the need to cut overheads and ‘realign’ the company’s
resources.
The
company expects the restructuring to cost $90 million in the first quarter of
2001.
