The Government has today launched an advice service to
provide employers with information about equality issues.
Equal opportunities minister Margaret Hodge launched the
initiative, which will inform employers about issues such as providing access
for disabled people and equal pay.
The telephone advice service will also help resolve
management issues and offer employment law advice.
“Equality Direct will help identify and address issues in
business organisations and assess the risks and benefits of taking action,”
Hodge said.
“The service is entirely confidential – it will be for
businesses to make their own, now informed, decisions based on what is right
and wrong for their own company.”
