The Government sees investing in its workforce as a key strand of its modernisation agenda for central government, Cabinet Office parliamentary secretary Graham Stringer claimed at a conference today.
Addressing an Employers’ Organisation conference in London which is looking at how to achieve best value through people, the MP said the government is motivating staff by involving them in decision-making and is tackling inequality in service provision.
He said: “We recognise that with reform comes the responsibility to invest in our workforce giving staff appropriate transferable IT skills, upskilling, and redeploying staff appropriately where reform changes the nature of work.”
He added that as the largest employer in the UK, staff must be equipped with skills of the future so that where changes come on line staff are able to adapt.
