Manual health records are covered by data protection laws,
OH professionals were warned.
Allison Warren, OH consultant for Citibank, said that many
employers are still not fully aware of the tightening of the law since the 1998
Data Protection Act. The Act covers all record systems.
"Have you considered the implications of not complying
with the Act? Do you think that this act does not apply to you as you have a
comprehensive record system already? Think again." she said.

The act also limits transfer of information. Warren has
written a best practice paper on implementing the Data Protection Act, which is
shortly to be published.
